Early Holland

Postby Han Bouwmeester on Wed Oct 28, 2009 4:12 pm

Congratulations! This is the Image of the Week selection for the Landscapes Gallery, week ending 30th October, 2009!Last Saturday evening the weather forecast predicted a frosty, bright night with fog and sun afterwards in the morning; the ideal conditions for a good landscape photo-shooting. At seven in the morning I walked through the dark fields of the Twickel estate in the Netherlands. I looked on my compass to see were the sun would come up for the perfect place for my autumn morning shot.
When the first sunbeams shone on the fields two Roe Deers walked in my direction.
Unfortunately, I had not taken my tele-lens with me. But I wasn?t here for the Roe Deers and not long after they walked away the sun lights the fog and the frozen fields. I was able to take this picture, my favourite of that day.

Nikon D700; Nikor 24-70 mm f2.8 nano; iso 100; f22; 1/20 sec; from tripod

Wish that tree was more isolated, but I love the atmosphere.

Han, beautiful composition and light; very nicely seen and processed. Not so sure about your choice of f22 with this focal length, however. The web image does not suffer as a result, but suspect you might have had enough dof with f9 or f11.

Marvelous image! Very tranquil and moody.

Awesome! That glow is great, and I like the gradient in the sky, too. Nice job getting the sun to peek through.

I do wish it was just the one tree, though. That's pretty much fixed with a crop.

Thanks for your replies!
I have replied on this before but now I see its gone like the mist:-))
I have made a lot of pictures from f 8 until this f22. For me this was the best one. I have to say that I like to make pictures with very low iso and long shutter speeds. maybe that's the point here.
